Marjorie Park Marina and Dock Master Building
Architecture Firm of Record: Cooper Johnson Smith Architects, Inc.
Principal in Charge: Doug Johnson
Sited on a 55 acre parcel donated by the island’s namesake and named for his wife, this municipal park on Davis Islands which contains a marina and two buildings which were adaptively restored as part of this project for the City of Tampa.
The first of the two existing buildings is the Dockmaster Building. The scope of work on this 1950’s era structure included a complete gutting of the existing building, increasing the height of the building’s walls to enhance the structure’s interior space and feel, adding a new pitched tile roof, and adding a new arched portal entrance and arbors.
